The president of the Swiss Federation Johann N. Schneider-Ammann met the president of the EU Commission J.-C. Juncker on Monday 19. Sept. 2016  in Zuerich. They discussed the status of the relations between Switzerland and the European Union, especially the implementation of the Swiss initiative limiting immigration.

In the evening they took part in the anniversary celebration of Winston Churchil’s speech held in Zurich in 1946. They addressed the historical and topical  issues of the European unification process in their speeches.

In the afternoon the University of Zuerich has organized a scientific colloquium with British and Swiss participants commemorating Winston Churchill’s speech ‘Let Europe arise!’.
